The Best Chainmail Pieces, Inspired By Maddy From 'Euphoria'

You don't need to save chainmail for a winter formal

by Jenna Igneri

If you caught Sunday's season finale of Euphoria, chances are you're still talking about, or at least thinking about, the character's epic winter formal looks. From Jules' sheer organza shirt touting a bedazzled transgender symbol to Kat's new bangs and red leather corset, the girls came to slay.

But what stood out the most was Maddy's insane look: head-to-toe chainmail, which included a matching halter and skirt, topped off with a glittering chainmail veil.

As someone who (over a decade ago) wore the most typically basic, glitzy, awful gowns to my own school dances, I'm now honestly regretting that I didn't, too, wear the wildest, sheerest chainmail I could find. (I probably would have been sent home, but, looking back, that would have been fine with me TBH.)

School dances aside, chainmail is coming back in a big way. While it's resurfaced on runways over the years, seen most often from luxury label Paco Rabanne (who's behind the chainmail look Sophie Turner wore on the red carpet this past June), it also was a major street style trend at Paris Fashion Week this past March; at the New York shows, the trend even made its way into the runway hair looks.

I'll admit, whether there's a full renaissance coming or not, chainmail isn't the easiest trend to wear. And nine times out of 10, it probably won't be considered office- (or school dance-) appropriate. But, we still have a solid month and a half of summer left, so let it be known that I'll be wearing all of the liquid-y, metallic mesh chainmail I can get my hands on until it's too cold.

Below, 13 pieces of chainmail clothing and accessories to nab so you, too, can channel your inner Maddy Perez.
