City Girls' JT Is Expected To Be Released From Prison Within 90 Days

According to Quality Control, operation #FreeJT is happening

by Sesali Bowen

Yung Miami has done an amazing job of holding down City Girls while the other half of the rap duo did a bid in prison. In the 11 months since Jatavia "JT" Johnson turned herself in to do a nearly two-year sentence for aggravated fraud, #FreeJT has become one of the rallying cries heard across all of hip-hop.

It's been bittersweet to watch the group take over the charts and our hearts knowing one of them is experiencing it all secondhand, from behind bars. It looks like we may get our wish for her to come home sooner. JT's release date was tentatively set for March 2021, but, if Quality Control (City Girls' label) co-founder Pierre "Pee" Thomas is to be believed, the missing City Girl will make her triumphant return within 90 days.

During an interview with Hip Hop N More, Pee was asked about the future of his girl group since Yung Miami recently announced her pregnancy and will be taking maternity leave soon. "Is there a release date?" the interviewer asked about JT. That's when he confirmed the updated timeline.

I just pray she makes it home in time for our City/Hot Girl summer.
