28 Statement Coats We're Coveting From Copenhagen Fashion Week
The street style crowd was all about outerwear
What's a better way to kick off the lead-up to New York Fashion Week than admiring the street style from Copenhagen Fashion Week? Denmark's capital welcomed a slew of industry insiders and influencers from around the world to see the latest Fall 2020 collections from some of its best brands, including Ganni, Cecilie Bahnsen, Stine Goya, and more. And since this time of year is mostly cloudy, cold weather there, the fashion crowd was all about standing out in their best outerwear.
It turns out that typical black coats seem to be a fashion faux pas in Copenhagen, as a majority of showgoers made sure to keep their minds off the chilly temps by wearing all things bright, printed, vintage-inspired, or boasting interesting details. Take, for example, the retro-style coat with fur along the collar and cuffs, made famous by Danish brand Saks Potts. There were plenty of iterations of this popular piece, from a pistachio-green version to a pretty pastel blue. There were also loads of prints on everyone's outerwear, too, from patchwork and florals to snake print and plaid in all colors and sizes.
And even if you have a more classic coat in your possession, there are easy ways to spice things up, like adding an eye-catching handbag or print to your outfit. It's all about having fun with what you wear to get you through the winter season.
