FKA twigs’ ever-expanding Caprisongs universe has grown by one new bold visual. This time it’s the music video for “papi bones,” the mixtape’s steamy club banger featuring U.K. artist shygirl.
For those that haven’t been following, the singer has been shooting strange, low-key visuals to accompany the songs on her latest mixtape over the past few months. They’ve leaned more artistic than commercial, and the video for “papi bones” is no different, involving high fashion, homely interiors, and — randomly — a baby goat.
The brief, not even two-minute visual is all a bit random, wacky, and very clearly playful, which seems to be the point of these Caprisongs videos. On Instagram, twigs called them, “anti videos,” a label that very much fits the spontaneous and unpolished sensibility of these clips.
What remains constant regardless of the label or budget, however, is twigs’ own star-power, which shines fiercely through no matter if she’s spinning on a pole in a glossily CGI’d masterpiece, or gyrating on a dusty carpet (though we cannot recommend the latter).
