Taylor Swift’s Midnights rollout is barreling full steam ahead. On Tuesday the pop star unleashed the star-studded music video for the album’s second single, “Bejeweled.”

In typical Swift fashion, the visual is a kooky, modern retelling of Cinderella that’s stuffed with plenty of surprise celebrity appearances including Haim, who play excellent evil step sisters, and Laura Dern, as a cutting evil stepmother.

Dita Von Teese is also involved as Swift’s magical burlesque fairy godmother (complete with a splashy Martini glass dance routine), as is make-up mogul Pat McGrath, who makes an appearance as “Queen Pat.”

Of course, Swift’s close friend and collaborator Jack Antonoff also makes a showing in the video as the unlucky prince who wins Swift’s hand in marriage at the end (but gets ghosted instead).

Like “Anti-Hero,” “Bejeweled” is directed by Swift, and takes some liberties with the ubiquitous fairy tale. Instead of a royal ball, it’s a talent show, and instead of wanting to marry Prince Charming, Swift’s Cinderella is in it for a free castle.

In a post to Instagram, Swift expanded on its premise, writing, “[‘Bejeweled’ is] my twist on a fairytale we all know. The one about the girl and her step sisters and the clock striking 12… This video is wild, whimsical and created SPECIFICALLY for you, my beloved fans who have paved this shimmering path.”

Upon release, Midnights broke sales and streaming records on Spotify, Apple Music, and more. Billboard has already forecasted the album to be the top-selling album of 2022. Watch “Bejeweled” on YouTube, and see NYLON’s best songs from Midnights.
