Marc Jacobs' New Sack Bag Is The Ultimate Carryall

by Christina Holevas

There may be no designer with their finger more firmly on the pulse of culture, style, and the impulses of cool girls everywhere than Marc Jacobs. Since his debut student collection in 1984, Jacobs’ irreverent intuition and drive towards experimentation has pushed the fashion envelope forward. And while he may be known for his eternally cool ready-to-wear, Jacobs is also a bonafide pioneer of the It Bag. The man knows his way around a leather good.

Take, for example, the Sack bag, the newest member of the Marc Jacobs handbag lineup. First spotted in an extreme oversize on Marc Jacobs’ fall 2022 runway, the sleek, utilitarian silhouette is an ideal everyday carryall. It’s functional, yet far from quotidian malaise. Featuring the designer’s iconic branding on the front and back, the Sack bag recalls early-aughts favorites, updated with a distinctly modern edge.

Handcrafted from lightweight, full-grain leather, the Sack’s silhouette is spacious, with a zip pouch and interior slip pocket for easy storage, and locating those easily-buried keys or lip gloss. It’s available in a range of sizes, from mini to XL, and colors ranging from Kiwi Green to the aptly named Future Floral, a newly released abstract floral print.

And in standard Marc Jacobs form, the Sack bag’s latest campaign is bound to infiltrate the minds (and carts) of the fashion elite. Placing the bag on of-the-moment starlets like Sabrina Carpenter, Charli XCX, and Gabriette, Marc Jacobs makes a convincing case for the Sack’s status as an instant classic.
