Lion Babe Takes A New Approach To A Holiday Classic

In collaboration with Segura Viudas

As we approach the holidays and the end of 2018, the oft-repeated maxim of "new year, new me" can feel a bit, well, cliché. Same goes with the schlocky songs that come with the season. Lion Babe gets that, and have figured out a way to make one NYE classic feel fresh and relatable again with a remix of "Auld Lang Syne."

"This has been such a tumultuous year," Lion Babe vocalist Jillian Hervey tells us, "so it's nice to be able to start something that hopefully lifts people." They've put a new spin on a song that's never, ever going away, and with it, are trying to bring back the optimism and holiday cheer that comes with it.

"We just tried to give it a Sister Act, Lauryn Hill kinda vibe," Lion Babe producer Lucas Goodman tells us. This remix is something holiday traditionalists can still appreciate. Hervey points out, "A little one might have never heard of ["Auld Lang Syne"], but this might be a way for them to relate to it easier."

The remix was done as part of a collaborative effort with cava brand Segura Viudas. U.S. brand manager Alie Burnet tells us, "It ultimately is about breaking tradition, gaining new experiences." She adds, "["Auld Lang Syne" is] a very old song, so we wanted it to not be so dusty."
