Madewell's First Sustainable Swimwear Line Is Adorable *And* Affordable
Each piece saves four to eight plastic bottles from ending in the landfill
Madewell has just launched Madewell Second Wave, a sustainable swimwear line for beach babes looking to be more eco-friendly. The collection, available now, features 32 mix-and-match pieces made of fabric created from recycled plastics.
According to a press release from Madewell, your eco-friendly efforts are easily quantifiable, "saving 8 plastic bottles per one-piece suit and 4 plastic bottles per bikini which gives plastic that may be destined for landfills a second life." Madewell estimates a total of 50,920 bottles were repurposed for the collection.
The collection is pretty size-inclusive too, ranging from XXS to 3X for most styles. Any combination of top and bottom (or, one-piece) totals out at under $100, making it affordable and chic. There's an array of rich-hued solids and bright stripes on a variety of waist heights for bottoms (not everyone is a high-waisted devotee, I get it).
