To recognize Muslim Women's Day, NYLON turned to its creator and founder and editor-in-chief of MuslimGirl.com, Amani Al-Khatahtbeh, to kick things off. Al-Khatahtbeh moderated a discussion featuring model and public speaker Mariah Idrissi, Haute Hijab founder Melanie Elturk, and modest fashion influencer Maria Alia; their conversation spanned the topics of appropriation, cancel culture, and what it means to call fashion political.

When it comes to the current status of fashion and how it can do better, Idrissi said, "I feel like moving forward it's more about collaboration rather than a designer just coming up with their own line without having anyone within that space consulting or working with a Muslim designer." Hear all these women had to say in the video, above.
