Rihanna Slid Into Lizzo's DMs To Praise Her VMA Performance

Legends support legends

Add Rihanna to the long list of people who are obsessed with Lizzo. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Lizzo shared that the singer and entrepreneur had sent her a message in support of her VMA performance, in which she performed a mash-up of "Truth Hurts" and "Good As Hell" for a full four minutes of self-love and body positivity. Legends support legends, obviously.

Since Rihanna is a master wordsmith, the singer didn't offer Lizzo a simple "congratulations." Lizzo said, "She said I fucked the stage like it was my side bitch," which is arguably the best way to describe Lizzo's powerful set. She continued, "Don't get mad, Rihanna. I am not trying to blow up your spot, but that was a hard ass line! I might take that line."

Speaking of Rihanna, Lizzo also noted that she, like everyone else, is so ready for new music from Rih. When asked if she wanted to go for a collab, Lizzo said, "Listen, we need a video of Rihanna in the studio, period." But she's not interested in rushing whatever genius work Rihanna is probably making for us. "I am not going to bother her, 'cause I know what that feels like, so I am going to let her do what she ought to do."

And hopefully, since Rihanna is obviously a Lizzo stan, that includes collaborating on a track.
