Lili Reinhart, Rowan Blanchard, And King Princess Star In Rodarte's Stunning New Lookbook
Haim sisters, Kirsten Dunst, Kiernan Shipka, Yalitza Aparicio, Maya Erksine, and more also appear
For the newly revealed visuals for Rodarte's Spring/Summer 2020 Portrait Series, designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy seemed to pull inspiration from '80s prom dresses and make them into dreamy masterpieces. Giant shoulder pads, tulle, and long skirts were worn by all your favorite celebrities of the moment—like Riverdale star Lili Reinhart and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina actress and NYLON cover star Kiernan Shipka—for the portraits.
In an interview with Vogue, the Mulleavy sisters admitted to wanting to create painted portraits inspired by surrealist work but landed on photographs that evoke the same effect. "As we've become more confident and comfortable in our design voice and really seeing what our personality is within the design world, it's been really nice to think artistically about creating a world behind each collection," Laura stated.
In between the spurts of Big '80s Prom energy (I'm pretty sure no one could pull off all-over sequins quite like King Princess in this shoot), actresses Gabrielle Union and Kirsten Dunst serve up princess realness in the most beautiful pastels. Adding to the romantic vibe are pearls sprinkled in each look, including in the hair of Haim sisters, Rowan Blanchard, and Phoebe Bridgers, and on the mesh gloves of Yalitza Aparicio, Maya Erskine, and January Jones (who holds a regal Mad Men reunion with Shipka).
