Sandy Liang Designed The '90s Vans Collection Of Your Dreams
It will have you wearing faux fur sneakers with bucket hats
New York designer Sandy Liang has teamed up with Vans to create a limited-edition collection, full of accessories, apparel, and Liang's own take on five of the California brand's classic shoes. She also took inspiration from her hometown of Bayside, Queens, as well as her love for the '90s to create a range of must-have, trendy-worthy pieces.
"To see my ideas come to life on such an iconic collection of footwear and apparel is a dream come true," said Liang in an official statement. "This collection embodies the playful dreaminess of the nineties, as well as the grittiness of downtown New York City."
The shoes offer completely new interpretations of the signature Vans silhouette, made with new fabrics, like velvet and faux fur, and added details, including metal studs and delicate charms. The rest of the collection includes apparel, such as a hoodie and T-shirt covered in Instagram-friendly prints (tie-dye, stripes, polka dots), and accessories, like a '90s-inspired bucket hat with Liang's namesake logo. Sadly, there aren't any Vans x Sandy Liang fleece jackets among these offerings, but a faux shearling crossbody bag in two different colorways will do.
If Liang's collections are typically out of your price range, the Vans collaboration is worth pursuing, with pieces priced between $14 and $199. The entire collection will be available for purchase on Vans or Sandy Liang websites, as well as select Vans stores on February 21.
