Dodie, Nakhane, and more

Every weekend, we bring you #SOUNDCHECK—your destination for the best of the best new music that's just hit the web, because you should always be prepared when someone passes you that AUX cord. This week's roundup features some of our favorite emerging and established artists, including Dodie, Nakhane, Sigrid and so many more. Turn up, tune in, and tune out.

Human - Dodie
For the quiet moments, when you're alone.

Nakhane - New Brighton feat. ANOHNI (Official Video) youtu.be

"New Brighton" - Nakhane ft. Anohni
Nakhane's vocals manage to stop me in my tracks every time his music comes on; "New Brighton" is no exception.

"sauce" - DAWN
She's taking back her sexual power.

"LBD" - Becky G
Don't fuck with me in my LBD.

Sigrid - Don't Feel Like Crying (Lyric Video) www.youtube.com

"Don't Feel Like Crying" - Sigrid
I, too, don't feel like crying, but I will anyway! Regardless, this is a sound I can totally get behind.

Outer Peace - Toro y Moi
A whole damn vibe.

"Hold You Back" - Emotional Oranges
Only the third track from this buzzy new duo, but it's clear you'll definitely have to keep tabs on them.

Jaden Smith - A Calabasas Freestyle youtu.be

"A Calabasas Freestyle" - Jaden Smith
Smith is keeping his sunset-hued emo boy vibes strong with this latest visual.

"Pretty" - Terror Jr
Even now that we know Terror Jr isn't Kylie Jenner's secret music career, I'm still obsessed.

"RIP Aretha" - Dreezy
If this is any sign, we definitely aren't ready for the full-length that Dreezy is about to drop next week.

Twitter is already obsessed

Captain Marvel actress Lashana Lynch has been cast as the newest 007 agent, according to a report from The Daily Mail. If it's true, it'll be the first time that a white man won't play the main character in the film franchise's history. Twitter is celebrating the casting as a huge step forward, and we totally agree.

Her recent comments have sparked backlash

In an interview for As If magazine, Scarlett Johansson addressed the controversy surrounding her casting as a trans man in Rub & Tug, a role she later gave up, by saying that people are too politically correct with casting nowadays and that she should be able to play "any person, any animal, any tree" that she so desires. She's now being roasted for the statement.
