SZA Might Finally Release A ‘Ctrl’ Follow-Up In 2020
The singer teased an upcoming project on Twitter
Your 2020 music forecast just got brighter: new SZA music might just be headed your way. During an early-morning round of questions and answers on Twitter, the R&B singer teased that she has new tunes in the works — and a potential release date to fall within the upcoming year — but declined to give a firm answer as to when we would be able to hear it first. Aside from a handful of one-off features, SZA has not released a new musical project since her 2017 breakout Ctrl, one of NYLON's Favorite Albums of the 2010s.
In the midst of questions about her workout routine and artists SZA listens to, one fan asked the most important question of all; "Are we getting anything this year ma'am I'm STARVING?" SZA could have easily ignored the inquiry, but luckily replied with good news. "I'd say the date me and punch jus discussed .. but that would stress me n build unnecessary pressure [sic]," SZA tweeted to the fan. "Short answer is yes." We'll take it! Regardless of whether it turns out to be just a single or a full-fledged album, more SZA is always a good thing. The possibility of new SZA music is even enough to soften the blow of not receiving new Rihanna music yet again. (But hopefully, Rih will follow suit and drop new music too — why shouldn't we have both?)
