NSFW Tumblr May Be Coming Back, Thanks To Pornhub

It's interested in "restoring it to its former glory"

Ever since its owner Verizon placed restrictions on Tumblr's NSFW content, the platform has pretty much become dry and stale. But, according to reports, the company is now looking to sell the platform, and there's already a buyer interested: Pornhub.

In a statement to BuzzFeed News, Pornhub VP Corey Price said that the company was "extremely interested" in acquiring the platform, and that "restoring it to its former glory with NSFW content" would be "central" to its acquisition.

"Tumblr was a safe haven for those who wanted to explore and express their sexuality, adult entertainment aficionados included," Price told BuzzFeed News. "We've long been dismayed that such measures were taken to eradicate erotic communities on the platform, leaving many individuals without an asylum through which they could comfortably peruse adult content."

Tumblr was once the go-to platform for people, and especially women and queer people, but a blanket ban on pornographic images (which ended up also targeting images that weren't porn) led many people to all but abandon the site. Hopefully, Pornhub will also bring back "female-presenting nipples" that the platform tried to ban.
