Vans Is Selling Bisexual Sneakers For Valentine's Day

As a part of its "I Heart" collection

by Allison Stubblebine

This Valentine's Day, the new "I Heart" Vans sneakers can basically scream out that you're bisexual for you, without actually having to say a single word. Available now, Vans is offering a selection of three silhouettes bearing text imagery that boasts "heart"-ing boys and girls, in classic red, black, and white colors.

The styles are not explicitly bisexual sneakers — nowhere in the product description, nor press blast is there any mention of queer identities — but with text that reads "I [Heart] Girls I [Heart] Boys" printed across the canvas upper, sole, and even laces, the shoes are exuding major bi-energy. That, or they're just elaborate Panic! At The Disco merch à la the Too Weird To Live, Too Rare To Die! era (but only because of a huge bi-anthem).

The internet will assuredly have Big Opinions as to whether or not these sneakers are pandering to the queer community, or are simply cute. As a bi person, will I be adding the slip-ons to my cart and posting annoying pics on Instagram as soon as they arrive at my door? Yes, probably. But, do I also wish that the collection benefitted queer youth via a charity like The Trevor Project? Definitely. We shouldn't have to wait around for Pride month for Good Gay Things.

Take a closer look at the three styles below.
