Welcome home

by Gabrielle Korn

First and foremost: Welcome to our new home. It's been almost a year in the making. Every single piece of it, from the big gorgeous photos to the tiny adorable squiggles, has been designed with love. We've condensed our verticals, reimagined layouts, and studied the way you consume our content in order to deliver the most functional, beautiful, and inspiring platform possible. My favorite thing about it is that it reflects our heritage and our future at the same time; we wouldn't be where we are today without our print roots, and we are now officially equipped for the next chapter of digital media.

I'm also thrilled that we launched the new site the same day as our February cover, starring the inimitable Capricorn Aja Naomi King. There are some people who you meet and you just instantly know why they are famous: They're totally magnetic. Aja is one of those people. And, in the tradition we started last year, this cover shoot—which kicks off our Black History Month issue—is a stunning visual feast, manifested by a team of Black women, from the photographer to the stylist to the hair stylist and makeup artist. I can't wait for you all to see it.

The rest of the issue is filled with beautiful things, too: Stay tuned for interviews with Phoebe Robinson and Jessica Williams, Hanif Abdurraqib, and more; stories about Black artists and Black-owned fashion and beauty brands; a look back at the 100 best moments in Black fashion on film; plus an in-depth look at how and when Black women changed television.

February is also, of course, a Fashion Month (yes, again). This year we'll be spending a lot of time covering the people who are moving the needle forward in order to improve the fashion industry's diversity, accessibility, and sustainability, like model/activist/amputee Mama Cax, the creators of L.A.'s Vegan Fashion Week, and more.

For now, have a click around our new digs, and let me know what you think.
